‘I Pray’

This video starts with an interview, the music will start after.

Lyrics
I pray that I stay here I pray I pray I pray that I stay here I pray I pray
I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray

Their to take away from me
But if we’re blind then none that f of can really see
And if that’s true then none of us are really free
I’m trying to be what I’m meant to be
But it starts with me
And it ends with me
I’m trying to stay out of my head
Where nothing sleeps
Where nothing sleeps
Where nothing sleeps

They’re praying on my downfall
I’m pushing weight up like I’m trying to make it if the ground floor I don’t talk to none of these fake friends and enemies I can hear everything that these demons telling me I just need a remedy for insanity hoping nobody can see what’s happened to me
But as time goes on I see that I’m different as time goes on I see that I’m gifted and I tell my self to sit down today and tell my self to pray and pray and I’m pray

I pray that I stay here I pray I pray I pray that I stay here I pray I pray
I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray

I pray that I stay here I pray I pray I pray that I stay here I pray I pray
I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray

Their trying to take away from me
But if we’re blind then none of us can really see
And if that’s true then none of us are really free
I’m trying to be what I’m meant to be
But it starts with me
And it ends with me
I’m trying to stay out of my head
Where nothing sleeps
Where nothing sleeps
Where nothing sleeps

They’re praying on my downfall
I’m pushing weight up like I’m trying to make it if the ground floor I don’t talk to none of these fake friends and enemies I can hear everything that these demons telling me I just need a remedy for insanity hoping nobody can see what’s happened to me

I pray that I stay here I pray I pray I pray that I stay here I pray I pray
I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray I pray

Discrimination

Adam chose to write his song about discrimination.

Often in these circumstances we can encourage empathy and relationship building through exploring ways we can communicate.

How could you use songwriting to communicate what is happening in your life?

Have you tried expressing difficult situations through music before? You don’t need to always use words you can just let your music speak for itself. In Adam’s song they use repeated patterns to express frustration, changes in rhythm and melodies, try using this in your song!

Try these songwriting prompts:

  • What would my ideal future without this be like?
  • How many ways can you describe the way you feel about this situation?
  • What would you change about a current situation with someone and why?
  • What are all the different ways you feel about discrimination?

Top Tip

As Adam says in his interview, you don’t have to try and change the world through music but you can always hope to shed a light on bad situations. You don’t need to overcomplicate your music you may find just writing out how you feel will inspire creation. You could refer to a diary or journal and create lyrics from your experiences.
